Jacara Egan

Cultural Advisor

Jacara is a Muthi Muthi/Gunditjmara woman who lives and works in Naarm (Melbourne) on Wurundjeri country.

Jacara commenced at headspace (headspace youth mental health foundation)  National in March 2023.   Jacara has a breadth of experience in Mental Health in both adult and youth mental health services as well as a Coach and wellbeing Development manager.

As National Cultural and Clinical advisor, Jacara works to embed culturally safe clinical practice as well as utilising Aboriginal ways of healing via the Social and emotional wellbeing framework to improve service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. 

Jacara is passionate about holding space to educate and support people, combining her clinical practice with her Aboriginal knowledges and ways of being to improve overall health and wellbeing. When she is not working at headspace, she is the assistant coach for the Western Jets girls program in the AFL Coates Talent league and has previously coached at VFLW and AFLW level as well as holding the role of Indigenous Player Development manager for the AFLM team with the Essendon Football Club.
